The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) is a Government of India flagship program aimed at skilling rural youth to make them employable in various sectors.Launched in 2014, DDUGKY is a part of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and focuses on providing job-oriented training to rural youth, particularly those from poor and marginalized communities.
The program provides training in various sectors such as retail, hospitality, IT, and more, and also offers placement support to help trainees secure jobs. The scheme aims to benefit 10 million rural youth by 2022, with a focus on placement-linked skill training, apprenticeship, and entrepreneurship development, thereby contributing to the overall goal of poverty reduction and rural development.
This scheme focuses on providing to the occupational aspirations of youth and improving their skills for wage employment. DDUGKY Course plays a critical role to support the socio and economic programs of government such as Digital India, Make In India, and Start-Up India etc. It is mainly focused on candidates in the age group of 18 – 35 years.
